What you need to bring

  • A water bottle

  • Morning tea for your child/ren

  • Hats and weather appropriate play-clothes (sometimes we get messy)

  • Lots of energy to play games and learn with your child.

Arrival

This is an opportunity to welcome each family and settle everyone in.  Some activities and toys for children will be laid out when you arrive.  Our Playgroup Coordinator will meet and welcome you and your child/ren and will introduce you to other families.  You will be asked to sign in at each playgroup session and if it is your first visit you will be asked some basic information about you and your family.  This information is used for our reporting requirements.

Our Playgroup Coordinator is responsible for planning a term-by-term program that explores different themes.  Each week one or two different activities will be set up for children to participate in including an art/craft-based activity.

Our Curlews Supported Playgroup is held in a stimulating and fun outdoor environment with lots of space for children to move and play.  Children are encouraged to spend time freely exploring the play space either on their own or with others.  Our play space includes play equipment, bikes and a sandpit.  Free play provides a great opportunity for children to use their imaginations and participate in social interactions with other children, as well as allowing parents and carers time to catch up and socialise with each other.

Free Play

Families are asked to bring a morning tea snack and drink bottle for their child/ren.  Snack time is a great opportunity to sit down together and for the Playgroup Coordinator to provide any updates or advise of any upcoming events.

Our Playgroup Coordinator will encourage children to sit together in a circle and will share a story and a song.  This is a wonderful way to bring the session to a close. It creates bonds, and allows children to practice their listening skills, their language skills and their social skills. It is also a good time to have a rest.  We are not too ambitious with group time; ten to fifteen minutes is probably the maximum time most children can sit happily and pay attention.

Many hands make light work and parents and children are encouraged to participate in packing up play group.
