Homelessness Support

Case management-based support available for families and individuals in Gunnedah LGA who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.

Gunnedah Family Support Inc delivers the Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) program in Gunnedah Local Government Area (LGA), as part of the NSW Governments Going Home, Staying Home reform.
The SHS program aims to support people who are at risk of homelessness early to prevent homelessness. We also provide targeted assistance to people experiencing homelessness in order to minimise the amount of time people are unhoused.

The SHS program is case management based which means that participants work with case managers to develop an individualised case plan that includes goals and a clear plan about how to achieve them.
SHS services are delivered in a client centred way, that means, that each response for each person is based on the particular circumstances of that person, their experiences and choices. This will include individually tailoring the intensity and length of support and also considering the needs of each household in achieving long-term housing.

Anyone engaging in specialist homelessness support from Gunnedah Family Support can expect to be treated with respect, dignity and empathy in an environment that is welcoming, safe and respectful of all cultures and backgrounds. Participants can be assured that their right to confidentiality and to participate in decision making about their lives and the services they receive.
